DIFFERENT CHAIRS

sitting in my favorite chair so much has led here so much living and life with lovers and friends that i hardly knew so many people and places and experiences that are mine and they’re all mine alone

sitting here smoking and drinking my coffee as i have so many times in different chairs different places many i’ll never forget but more i can hardly remember is there anything wrong with that?

it’s years and more years so it’s nice when you tell me all that you remember about me and about you i’ve fended off so much so much pain so much misery it’s defensive some say but it works

is that called denial? or that old wishful thinking to push down and repress the memories of yesterday? or is there simply no room in my head? it’s hard to remember when consumed by so much frivolity

we are don’t you know it? we are frivolous and ungrateful and resistant to so much of who we are all we’ve seen what we’ve known where we are in order to keep forging ahead

sitting here smoking and drinking my coffee as i have so many times in different chairs different places many i’ll never forget but more i can hardly remember is there anything wrong with that?

  1. never read anything that focused on such an angle. and i have written about such often, never saw forgetting as something to be treasured. two words: Nice view man, Nice view. I love the perspective

  2. Just the time I think you’ve maybe varied your format by repeating your ‘action’/situation, you conclude with the question: “Is there anything wrong with that?” Hmm…Provocative.
