unfolding before me
like a piece of paper that was folded years ago
and lost in the bottom of some box
up in the attic
or in the back of a closet
that you came upon and immediately recognized
but had forgotten about
’til now

unfolding before me
bad memories good ones too that lead to today
and you’re finally blossoming like a flower
that’s taken months and months to fatten
and under a variety of conditions too
to open in all its splendor
’cause it just has to
like you do

unfolding and showing
like never before
just what you’re made of now that you know
so many creases are evening out
wrinkles and crinkles
and rumples and crimps
unfolding and smooth as can be.
