RUNNING IN PLACE

so yeh why bother
with all you do and you say
each and every day

has it made a difference yet?

what makes you certain
that your effort’s not in vain
that you’re not bogged down

and running in place
simply spinning your wheels and
stuck here in neutral?

there’s so much to do
and not everyone is good
i mean thinks like you

believes in kindness
that people can overcome
the world’s beautiful

they don’t think that way

so then why bother
believing and thinking and
doing what you do?

i’m just curious.

  1. Maybe because it’s meaningful to us, and it’s not about other people and their opinions? Maybe?

I like the way this flows. And your single lines in between are as though you stop for breath amid your thoughts πŸ™‚

  2. “there’s so much to do
    and not everyone is good
    i mean thinks like you”

I love this part so much I want to make out with it down by the river πŸ˜‰
or…….something like that cause I know you know what I mean….oh, I love the entire poem of course but that part is extra-special πŸ™‚

  3. I guess we bother because we continue to hope it’s not in vain. That someone will listen. And someone will care. And someone might change. Or something might. That we might have made a difference.
